Between Manali, a well-know hills station of Himachal Pradesh and Leh, capital of Ladakh, you will have to cross 5 high altitude passes. The higher pass being Tanglang pass at 5328 m.
Though many travellers do the road in 2 days only we do it in minimum 4 days.
There are two main reasons for that.
Firstly you need to acclimatize to high altitude if you want to avoid acute altitude sickness. Believe us it is something that you want to avoid.
Secondly the road in itself is so stunning that you would miss (or cross too fast) some of the most spectacular landscapes on Earth !
The Tsarap valley and its amazing surrounding mountains which shows millions of years of Geology is something you must not miss. The Moore plateau above 4500 m makes you belief that you are driving on the high plateau of Tibet. The spectacular descent from the Tangla pass with a view of the Karakoram range and its wonderful violet colored mountains and canyons will definitively leave a trace in your memory.
There is such much to see, so much to enjoy on this road !
We offer you the options of having comfortable camps in the middle of nowhere with our staff and equipment or the stay in the seasonal camps set up by the locals between June and October.
See the third photo of the slideshow above, to understand the kind of camp we organize by ourselves.
Be with us to do the Manali to Leh road.
